Alternative Medication vs Chemical Cocktail

I would like to hear from others who have chosen the non traditional way of treatment, herbal and chineases medicine verses the chemical cocktail. I have done a good deal of research and have found a good menu so to speak, but would like to hear others expeirences with alternative medication. Side effects, outcome, dosage, specific beneficial herbs and vitimans and whatnot.
