Hi Kristopher. This board has been quiet lately but perhaps all it needs is people who need help and those that are willing to provide it. Sometimes one can find help through older posts. Sometimes you may get a quick response and sometimes you may have to wait. You can also click a thread to notify you when it gets an answer. This may help you even if you were to get a response in a week or a month. I've seen posts get an answer sometimes even after they have laid unanswered for a year between posts.
Sorry that it has been a rough beginning. I don't have HIV but have been through the trauma of being diagnosed with HCV. It is particularly terrible at first but we have a way of adapting to living with a disease. My guess is that things will improve somewhat, particularly if and when you find some support. People with the same afflictions can really help one another. It has worked out for me.
Best wishes for better times ahead.

HI Kristopher,
Sorry about you and your partners recent diagnosis. I've been positive since 1986. I was 23 at the time. If you have any questions I will be glad to answer them. & If I don't know the answer I can find out for you. The best advice I can give you is try to avoid as much stress as possible. Get plenty of good quality rest, eat healthy, drink plenty of water & ALLWAYS take your meds on schedule.
Get yourself a notebook and write down questions for your doctor. Keep notes on your visits. Buy yourself a medication box and set up your meds for the week. Ask your doc for copies of your blood work. You should expect to have blood drawn every three months. If you notice any changes such as night sweats, fevers, coughs, anything don't put it off make an appointment with your doc asap.
I hope some of this info helps you. & If you have a question please don't hesitate to PM me.
Wishing you both good health & better days ahead.

OH and one more thing drink alcohol in moderation. The meds are hard on your liver so the less stress on that organ the better.
