If you read my above post introducing myself...... you willl know that I came to this site from my association with HCVanonymous.  But I was in Al-Anon before I became aware of my HCV positive status.  I will have 5 years in this summer.  When I first showed up in Al-anon...... my life was a mess.  In spite of several other disasters (a divorce, loss of job, a house fire, being diagnosed  Shocked) happening to me, life now is not as bad as it was.  I think my being "connected" is helping me weather this current storm.  Regardless of our status..... whether positve for HIV, HCV, or uninfected...... having a positive attitude and support will literally add years to your life and a little more pleasure to your living.  I hope that this site can function as something that can help you.

I have been hiv positive since 1986. Living with full blown aids since 2003. I have been a member of another well know aids forum since 2004 but have wanted to branch out and find other HIV related forums on the internet.  I am very familiar with 12 step programs. I've been involved with those for the past 5 years.

Hi Dan and welcome.  I am not HIV positive.  I just do a little maintenence over here trying to help the board out.  I'm not really knowledgable about HIV.  I know a little but not from the inside, so to speak.  I've had HCV for a while, no idea how long or even how I got it.  I really like the idea of helping others though.  I'm of more use at our other site but try to help out here as best as I am able.

I've posted a few other HIV sites and bulletin boards here and do some reading on occassion but have trouble keeping up with the work on the HCV board.  I've enjoyed reading particularly AIDSMEDS and the Body.  You are also welcome to post any links to other boards as well.

I'm sorry about your progression to AIDS and hope that your treatment can keep it in check.

Best,
Willy

I am hoping to start an HIV anonymous meeting in my area.  I have been positive since 1985 and am in another 12 step program.  I would like to creatw a forum where people can openly and honestly discuss and learn to cope with their status.  I have a copy of "POSITIVE ATTITUDES" A 12-Step Workbook for Everyday Living and have been working the steps along with my other steps.  I have found it to be helpful and is a great tool to share with others.
