HIV.

Summary of the HIV/AIDS Epidemic December 2001.

newly infected with HIV in 2001 -- Total
5 million. People
living with HIV/AIDS as of end 2001 -- 140 million.
Over
the next 10-20 years HIV/AIDS is predicted to become
a major burden on the health care system as patients who are
currently asymptomatic with relatively mild disease progress to
