Stopping the Spread of HIV

There is no rightful place in a world of love, balance, and harmony for people who ignorantly destroy others by careless sexual behavior. If we endanger the lives of others for selfish reasons, we are guilty of disregard for the potential destructiveness of our condition.

When we treat others as sex objects and we exploit them for pleasure, we corrupt our character and degrade ourselves.  Good character includes honesty, fairness, decency, caring, self-control, etc.
Ignorance and denial do not invalidate truth.

High-risk behavior can be a symptom of an underlying fury and hatred, which is often confused with the correct behavior of consenting adults.  Aware, caring individuals do not place their lives or others’ lives in jeopardy with high-risk behavior.

The concept of safe sex or safer sex with a condom is misleading. Would you knowingly transmit a deadly disease to someone you love? Can it be wise to trust in the use of a condom during sex with someone you say you love, or anyone at all, when condoms have been known to have a failure rate of 10% to 15%? Denial is not a shield, nor is ignorance a sanctuary. These Universal Laws are put here for our benefit, not for us to try to figure out ways to beat them. Obviously it is Russian roulette to get involved in high-risk behavior.

Multiple sexual partners can cause the spread of many STD’s. Many of us are so confused that we not only engage in high-risk behavior with little or no remorse, but we also give approval to some who engage in the same high-risk behavior, while condemning others.

Are Condoms Foolproof, or for Fools?

We must realize that we can never reach our full potential while outside the realm of love for our fellow man. High-risk behavior depletes and displaces our spiritual energy. If we are to live in balance and harmony, and develop our relationship with our Higher Power, we must implement spiritual truth and deny ourselves misaligned behaviors and actions.

Sexual addiction disorders may be as hard to overcome as alcoholism or a severe drug habit.  The synergistic effect of drug addiction and sexual addiction is so strong that it usually warrants an invitation for HIV. Just as we can develop our strengths, we can also fuel our weaknesses. Harboring ungodly thoughts or acting them out increases our vulnerability. Sexual addiction can become a progressive disorder. Focus on truth and try to do everything with the best intent for all.

Promiscuity, rape, incest, adultery, pornography use (magazines, videos, Internet, etc.), compulsive  masturbation, molestation, sexual harassment and prostitution are rampant. Committing these acts poisons good character.

Awareness and understanding are important, but need to be followed by action. When we free ourselves from denial, the decision to act constructively is almost automatic.

The first goal is to constantly recognize and acknowledge high-risk behavior; but then the work has just begun. Denial is both widespread and persistent. A greater education of the public is necessary if there is to be more awareness, clear recognition, and acceptance of the risks involved. It is a task that requires life-long effort, vigilance, and a focus on maintaining self-honesty through surrender.

I am filled with grief and unhappiness that so many people have acquired HIV. I hope and pray that we can all learn to have mutual respect in love—then HIV will not continue to be spread by high-risk behavior, and this devastation will perish on its own.

Love, Glen Caulkins
